Walmart, a leader in sustainability, corporate philanthropy and employment opportunities, recently made a considerable gift to Special Olympics Massachusetts for athletes throughout the Commonwealth.

From L-R: Bob Johnson, president and CEO of Special Olympics Mass, State Senator James Eldridge of Acton, Special Olympics athlete Colin Davidson, State Rep. Danielle Gregoire of Marlborough and Wal-Mart’s Ron DeNapoli.
Walmart donated $50,000 to SOMA through their state giving program. Nearly half of the donation will go toward purchasing 46 medallions, one for every Walmart store in Massachusetts, at SOMA’s official headquarters, the Yawkey Sports Training Center. Those medallions now hang prodly in the gym at the Center. Additional funds will go toward providing year-round training and competition opportunities for SOMA athletes. State Rep. Danielle Gregoire of Marlborough, and State Senator James Eldridge of Acton stopped by to thank Wal-Mart as well.
