Everyone’s dream has certain milestones and here at Special Olympics Massachusetts, we’re no different. In fact, we’re all about dreams. As we all work hard here to build our new home in Marlborough, MA, we felt it was time to celebrate some progress. The new Yawkey Sports Training Center is on track to open this coming fall. It will not only serve as the official headquarters of Special Olympics Massachusetts but it will also serve as a place for research and programs to address the unique healthcare needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities, through a unique partnership with UMass Medical School in Worcester.
As progress reached the half-way point, it was time to get everyone together and do a little bragging. On a day with not one cloud in the sky, countless supports and Special Olympics athletes came to the construction site in Marlborough to celebrate progress by holding abeam signing ceremony. The beam signed by over 100 people including athletes will have a permanent place in the lobby of the new Yawkey Sports Training Center and new home to Special Olympics Massachusetts.
We’d like to thank many people but two organizations in particular are Columbia Construction who is serving as Construction Manager for the project and DiGiorgio Associates is the Architect.
