Each year the Students at Governor’s Academy in Byfield, MA help run every aspect of our annual Fall Soccer Tournament.
Last Tuesday, with only a week and half left until the big day, the Special Olympics Committee met to discuss some last minute topics. All the groups reported on their finishing touches. The highlighted subject of the evening was the new program, Healthy Athletes. This program emphasizes the meaning of being an athlete and taking care of oneself. On the day of the event, stations will be set up around the campus advertising Healthy Athletes. The stations will include informational games about the Healthy Athletes program and will also offer prizes. This new addition to the Special Olympics tournament on Sunday will bring a new source of energy. The Governor’s committee and community are anxiously looking forward to this weekend, and are showing spirit by having a jeans day in support of Special Olympics on Friday.
