We had an incredible weekend of sports in Boston. With the Bruins Rolling Rally, a great Red Sox Game in which they beat Milwaukee and another fantastic Summer Games, complete with awesome weather and a crowd to go with it. And our Special Olympics athletes had a part in all of it.
Yes, over 2,500 athletes took to the field, the court, the weights and the pool to compete at one of the best Summer Games in recent memory. We also had three athletes take part in the Bruins Celebration parade thanks to our great friends at TD Bank. See the story here; http://www.thebostonchannel.com/video/28283446/detail.html
On Father’s Day, our athletes took to the field at Fenway Park in celebration of the fathers of Special Olympics athletes and they got a great reception that could only happen at Fenway! Thank you Red Sox and Larry Lucchino.
We also had five athletes take to the skies and head to Athens Greece for the Special Olympics World Summer Games starting in the coming days. Stay tuned for photos and update on the World Games. And several New England Patriots Cheerleaders spent a lot of time with our athletes and didn’t leave until they signed a ton of autographs and took a ton of photos.
Can you squeeze anymore in? A busy but inspiring weekend and we have so many people to thank! If you want to see 100’s of photos from the weekend, head on over to our Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/SpecialOlympicsMassachusetts
