Special Olympics Massachusetts athletes are preparing to celebrate the change in seasons with their Annual Fall Tournament which kicks-off with equestrian events. Over 112 riders will compete at Windrush Farms in Boxford and Ironestone Farms in Andover, October 15th and 16th in English and Western Style riding.
The 2011 Special Olympics Massachusetts Annual Fall Tournament will feature a tribute to longtime Equestrian Director and volunteer, Barbara DeNitto. Her vision founded the organization’s equestrian program which she helped lead for over 20-years. DeNitto, from North Andover, was instrumental in bringing the sport of equestrian to athletes in the Commonwealth and her impact on the program will resonate for many years into the future. She touched the lives of countless athletes through her coaching talents assisting them in participating in the Special Olympic International Games. Her contributions to the equestrian program and her dedication for athletes with Special Olympics will be greatly missed. The entire 2011 Fall Season is dedicated to DeNitto and her memory.
The 2011 Equestrian Tournament will be held in two locations. The schedule of events is as follows:
Saturday, October 15th: (Windrush Farms, 30 Brookview Rd, Boxford, MA)
Sunday, October 16th: (Challenge Unlimited & Ironstone Farms, 450 Lowell St, Andover, MA)
