Athletes Get Ready For Annual Flag Football and Cheerleading Event

A few years ago Special Olympics Massachusetts scored a winning partnership with the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation and on Sunday, November 13th, the championship combination will host the third annual Flag Football and Cheerleading event at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

Each year the event continues to grow as football and cheerleading increase in popularity among athletes. The addition of the two sports to the annual competition calendar gives additional ways for athletes to stay healthy while also adding another sport they love. Several hundred athletes and Unified® Partners from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island will participate in Unified ® 5X5 flag football games and cheerleading demonstrations.

Special Olympics Massachusetts is grateful for the support of the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation and for the chance to have athletes experience the thrill of competing in Gillette Stadium, home of the champion New England Patriots. The annual event is inspiring and for some athletes, it is the chance of a lifetime. The annual Special Olympics Massachusetts’ Flag Football and Cheerleading event joins soccer, equestrian and senior sports as part of the organization’s annual Fall Tournament.
