Athletes Take To The Field At Gillette

It’s becoming a bit of a tradition here at Special Olympics Massachusetts. With the Fall Sports Season, we are seeing more and more athletes take part in the annual Flag Football and Cheerleading event at the home of the New England Patriots, Gillette Stadium.

It’s a thrill for all involved. Certainly the athletes are incredibly excited about competing on the field at Foxboro, and volunteers as well. We get a great turnout for volunteers at this event and they are all thrilled about helping out our athletes at this historic venue. We had hundreds of athletes from Massachusetts and other New England states compete in this annual event and we are proud to report, all had a great time.

Stopping by to cheer on athlete and lend a hand were Patriots Alumni including Jon William, Ilia Jarostchuk, Derwin Williams, Steve DeOssie, Steve Nelson and Rick Buffington. Also taking part in the morning activities was Massachusetts Senator, Scott Brown.

We really need to thank everyone at the New England Patriots. They have been a true partner in making this Fall Sports season better and better each year. Treating our athlete like everyone else is what they have done best by giving them the chance to play on Gillette’s field.
