McGladrey and “Birdies Fore Love” Support Athletes in Massachusetts

MB with Zach Johnson On Monday, August 31st, a couple of special guests stopped by the Salem Country Club to learn about a fundraising campaign. McGladrey LLP is a leading U.S. provider of assurance, tax and consulting services and employs more than 8,000 people nationwide. On Monday, they were kicking off the three-month long Birdies Fore Love campaign. The campaign was born from the partnership between McGladrey and PGA tour veteran Davis Love III’s charitable foundation. Davis Love III described it this way “This is an exciting program and a fun way to raise additional dollars for charities. I am very proud of the way that our community embraced the initiative which has such a wide-reaching and positive impact on children and families.”

As described in the campaign information, each McGladrey office selects a local charity that supports youth in the areas of education, hunger, housing and health to benefit from its annual Birdies Fore Love Program.  This year, the Boston office of McGladrey has chosen to support Special Olympics Massachusetts! At the kickoff celebration, Special Olympics athlete and Global Messenger Melissa Reilly was invited to speak about why her involvement in sports is so important to her success in life. Melissa was able to express how these corporate partnerships contribute to the advancement of athletes across Massachusetts.

One of the other special guests at the event brought along a souvenir from Scotland. Professional golfer Zach Johnson was in the house with his new Claret Jug, which he received in July after winning the British Open. Zach took some photos with Melissa and Special Olympics Massachusetts CEO Mary Beth McMahon as well as representatives from McGladrey.

Now that the campaign has kicked off, all donations that come in through the McGladrey office in Boston will be matched, doubling the donations to support athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the state. To add to the fun, each donor may choose to enter a contest in which they guess the total number of birdies scored during the competitive rounds of the McGladrey Classic Golf Tournament for a grand prize golf trip to Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia.

Special Olympics is so thankful for all who support the Birdies Fore Love campaign including McGladrey and Zach Johnson! Congratulations to Melissa for a great night sharing her story!IMG_0689 IMG_20150831_181118
